Johnie is a graduate of U.M.K.C. conservatory with a degree in music composition. Over the years, he has studied many different styles of music, especially the island and latin genres

Tropical Zone has performed in venues all over the Kansas City area, including Isle of Capri, Union Station, Lee's Summit's Jamaican Jam, The Kansas City Home And Garden Show, The Nelson Art Gallery. Tropical Zone has also appeared at corporate functions, private weddings and parties.
